I, as I'm sure many others do not have the
money to go spend on every cd that contains a song or two I like.  And
singles just aren't worth the money.  I mean how many people have bought an
album for one song they liked and found out the rest of the album sucked?  If
artists really

I agree with you Jess on that one. You listen to a song on the radio, you think it's nice, but it's just one song, so how do you know if it's worth to buy it... especially when original cds are expensive and there are so many new bands coming out. And there's another thing, especially here in Poland and in the rest of the countries on the eastern Europe and Asia. Illegal cds - some people (no offense to anyone, but they're mostly from Asia) are copying the cds, make the inserts, everything and then they sell it. I'm telling you, it looks exactly like an original cd, except for the insert, which isn't complete, just the cover, back and sometimes some pics in the middle. The sound is the same as on the original cd. And you can buy those bootlegs in some "well-known for that" places, even though the police is chasing the people, who copy it. The original cds have a little silver label, which shows it's not illegal copied.
Then -  not many people have access to internet here, so instead of paying 15$ for a cd they pay like 3$ and it's even CHEAPER, than downloading the whole album in mp3 in the internet. Of course not all people do like that :)
And just one more thing - some cds weren't relased in other countries, some bands will never known in Europe, so sometimes it's good to download some songs, check them and eventually think of import the cd. Ok, just want to add this.
