Before I tell you about myself. I thought that i'd try to explain our school system in the states. We have what is called "Elementary" education. Which is for 6 yrs old to 12 years old people.(Average) The goal is to teach the basic concepts of learning. Then there is the intermediate stage. From 13 to 15 years old. Where the goal is to build on the basics and add to it the more in depth subjects needed to get a good job. Then there is the "High School" and "vocational schools" that either prepare one for further education or give them the skills to a vocation. Now! for the bad news! - Like stated above, it is more regimental and based on time, Rather than modular Regimental where if you excel above the mainstream or fall behind the mainstream. You are stuck struggling or dying of boredom. I was fortunate to have attended a school system that had modules that you could complete at your own pace. Then help others that were falling behind catch up. It helped those that were in need of peer based help better thierselves. As well as let the teachers dedicate thier time to presenting the scheduled material that was supposed to be presented. based on the more regimental education style that we have for our schools. I thing our present concentration on "tests of proficiency" is the wrong answer to our education problems. But that is what is "politically correct" in our present system. So 1-6th grade is elementary. Then 7-8th are middle school and 9-12th are high school. College education is mostly based on wealth, but there is a lot of scholarship programs that seem to be based on helping the disadvantaged economically, but gifted intellectually. Then there is the empathy or appology types of scholorship programs also. About myself -- From Columbus, Ohio -- 41 yrs old -- Married --- High school and vocational school graduate (11-12th dedicated to vocation). I have very little college. Except for a few credits. -- Came from a middle class family (too much money to qualify for empathy scholorships, but had parents that couldn't of foot the bill). Plus, was not really interested in college. Instead, went into the military and furthered my vocational education. What I enjoy is music, family, not really into sports or reading books. My vocation is working with electronics. But I like to manipulate computers also. And of course I enjoy talking to others on the internet. even though I know that the more I say. The more chances are that someone might know me too well. (AKA -- Big brother paranoia -- Know your enemies weaknesses thingy)-- but what's wrong with a little paranoia!
