Creed To Carry On As A Three-Piece

(5/14/01, 1 p.m. ET) -- Creed is in the studio recording the follow-up to Human Clay, but the band has not replaced bass player Brian Marshall, and Creed touring bassist Brett Hestla has gone back to being a lead vocalist-guitarist for his own band Virgos.

Vocalist-songwriter Scott Stapp--who was at home tending to his son, Jagger--told LAUNCH that it remains unclear who will play bass for Creed in the future.

"Right now we can't say what the future holds for the whole bass situation," he said. "In any other circumstances, if Brett didn't have another band, I would love to have Brett in our band. But I wish him the best and I hope his band succeeds and he does his own thing. But I don't think there will be any new members to Creed. Whatever the bass situation is, it'll be someone who, at least at this point, may be a touring bass player because [guitarist] Mark [Tremonti] and I and [drummer] Scott [Phillips] will play the bass lines on the record."
