Yeah, and the religious community of the list will be shocked to hear this, I used to be a very devout Southern Baptist. On 18 December, 1998, one week before I was supposed to be baptized, I stabbed my Bible with a metal cross (I love the irony to this day), publicly announced (in several different places) that no god existed and that no god had ever existed, swore to atheism, and said my last prayer - "God, if you do exist, no matter my deeds in this life, you can send me to hell for not believing in you, 'cause I don't give a damn any more, so f*** you. A-f***-in' men!" You see, I was less mature then. But basically I figured that I couldn't reconcile my position within Corvism with my position within Christianity, and I sacrificed the latter for the former because I decided that I didn't really believe any of the latter anyway. To this day I am glad that I made that choice. As Eve-6 says, "...nothing but faith in nothing..." So basically I see faith as somewhat contradictory to all seven of the Corvist ideals - Alacritas (spontaneity) Volvntas (free will), Nepenthes (not worrying), Dvbivm (doubt), Libertas (individualism), Res (realism), and Vsvs (pragmatism). So I left it. But there are Corvist Christians, don't get me wrong. And as has already been demonstrated, none of those words existed in their current incarnations back when any parts of the Bible were written, although they do have Old English equivalents that I cannot remember right now because I am quite tired... Anyway, I think 'tis healthy to question your beliefs and even to lose them. Yet I've always maintained - "I don't hate religion, I simply doubt it." If you lose your faith, or even if you keep it, you'd be welcome in the C.A.P.P.F.W. See ya'round Matt. Good to see you really participating in the CreedList. By the way, how's that girl issue of yours going?
