================================================ Subject: er...polite...request... From: "Jackson Crawford" To: Date: Tue 15 May 2001 19:39:23 -0500 ================================================ I'm glad to see that we finally seem to be backing off of that religious flame-war gig on the list, but I continue to receive several messages from several members on the list making various attempts to convert me to their respective religions. All of you know who you are (what a seemingly obvious statement), so I'm not going to name names, nor am I going to try to start this whole kick over on the list, but I would like to ask everyone that has been so kind as to send their anti-atheistic sentiments my way to stop! The messages in my "CreedList Adversaries" folder are beginning to outnumber the messages in my "CreedList Friends" folder, so, er...can we please forget this? I mean, the debate aspect was fun whilst it lasted, but when it boils down to "burn the atheist" crap, I kind of draw a line, though as most of you know I'm not against defending myself from such attempts :) So really, if you feel that there's just some great thing that you need to tell me about your religion and how it'll save me, go ahead, you'll just encounter a less happy Raven of Texas who may ruffle his feathers and start pecking at some eyeballs! Ah-ight, that's probably not a good analogy, circumstance considered, but you get the idea! Look, you're all great people, I've got nothing against any of you and in fact I enjoy getting messages from people personally, but not when they're narratives of my "afterlife." I'm not cowering away, you understand, but I understand that it is in my nature to get a bit more vicious with people that seem to want to do nothing but convert me! If you want to have a debate, like I said, that's fine, but let's not demonize the opposition. I would also like to point out that the other atheists (and pagans) on the list have my support if anyone feels like sending any bullshit to them either. If you fall in to one of those categories and feel like you need a little help warding off the dogs, feel free to contact me. I'm working at ensuring a happier list here... Thanks everyone, have fun, and rock on! (the Raven of Texas dives for cover just as the British and religious listers realize he's online and send a hail of bullets his way, pulls his own .44 and starts pulling potshots, and the cycle continues...)
