If you know the story, they pierced his heart, or right below it, to make sure he is dead, before he was taken off the cross. >>> ]\\[][G}{T§TÖ®]v[ 05/11/01 01:58PM >>> Okay, can someone just give me an idea of approximately how long ago the apparent flood took place, according to the bible? Is our civilization older than the Egyptian pyramids and the Sphinx? Is it older than the Valley Of The Kings? Is it older than Spirit Cave Man? That site that I was referred to had some interesting stories, but unfortunately, that's all most of them seemed to be to me... stories. Several contradicted themselves, some basically say that science is wrong, and then later on use examples of science in their favor... some denounce Carbon Dating, then the next subject pretty much preaches the use of carbon dating in their favor. So if it supports carbon dating, than it was over 150 million years ago when the Dinosaurs were suddenly (yeah I agree with what it says there, it happened quickly) wiped from the earth. So if the Dinosaurs were around both before and after the "great flood", then doesn't that mean that the flood happened over 150 million years ago as well, and that Noah did too? How come we've found all sorts of Dinosaur fossils dating back that far, but no human? Why would all the Human bones be totally destroyed and turned to dust when the Dinosaurs weren't? Was it just because of the size? I can find it somewhat believable that Noah lived for 500 years, and spent 150 of them building a boat... sure, why not? They didn't use the same calendar that we use today... how are we to know that their year wasn't much shorter than ours? But this issue of "2 of every animal marched onto the Ark two by two"... has anyone ever actually sat and thought about that for a moment? I'm neither agreeing nor denying this statement... but honestly... how would some of the animals that are only native to North America get to the Ark if it was built over in Asia? And how about the creatures of New Zealand and Australia? How well does the Kangaroo swim? And the Tasmanian Devil? Now a question of my own... I know I asked a bunch in my first e-mail, but I didn't want to overload anyone... the idea of The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ. I was watching a show last night, and it brought up the same questions that I have been asking for a while now, and have heard others ask it too. How do we know that he was, infact, dead? When people loose a lot of blood, added to it the fact that they would have gone several days without much air (it's proven that being on a cross in the position he was in, that the lungs would not be able to properly expand and take in a full breath of air... most had died from suffocation), and in extreme heat, that they would have slipped into unconsciousness before finally passing. Their breathing would then slow to a almost non-existent rate, and because of that, their heart would slow to a point of almost stopping aswell. It happens a lot, really... people were getting buried alive for thousands of years, thought to be dead by all around them. Recently, people began to exhume bodies to examine them, and finding (upon opening the lid to the coffin) scratch marks inside the lid, matching that of finger nails... the people would slip into this "death", be declared dead and buried... and awaken 6 feet under, inside a small box, and basically panic... how are we to not know that the same was the case for Jesus? Did anyone actually perform an autopsy on his body to infact ensure he was dead, or did they just check for a heartbeat and see if they could hear him breath? I imagine that this is one of those questions that everyone can have an opinion about, but will never really know the answer to in their lifetime. And honestly, in my opinion, that's what Christianity, and every other religion is too.... the opinion of people of how things were, are, and will be... and none can truly be proven to the world until death, when they will come to face whatever afterlife or lack of an afterlife there might be. I think that's why I can't devote my life to any religion... not out of total disbelief, but instead out of doubt... how am I to know that the one I might pick is the correct path? I can't see myself spending the next XX number of years following a path that may only be stories that someone dreamed up thousands of years prior to explain the world to their children at bedtime (not directed at any religion... just another possibility). I guess to close this up, I'll just apologize to everyone that was subject to the Religion topic the past week or so, and that I'm officially out of the discussion as of now. Anyone who has been here a while and has seen my posts knows that I'm not one to suddenly drop from a topic without first adding my last thoughts... so again, sorry for everyone who was subjected to this topic without wanting to be... and don't worry, I think it's about over. ¤]\[][G}{T§TÖ®]v[¤ http://NightStorm.isyourgod.com/ NightStorm_Draco_@hotmail.com NightStorm_Draco@creedlist.com NightStorm@isyourgod.com I've seen the wicked fruit of your vine, Destroy the man who lacks a strong mind Human pride sings a vengeful song Inspired by the times you've been walked on My stage is shared by many millions, Who lift their hands up high because they feel this We are one We are strong, The more you hold us down the more we press on What if you did?
