================================================ Subject: Odp: RE: died in dreams???? ..... Were you "reincarnated"? From: "Jackson Crawford" To: Date: Fri 4 May 2001 20:17:19 -0500 ================================================ Well, I suppose that 'tis apparent that I've not died in life yet, and I've been dying in my dreams for years, so I would say that 'tis not true that dream mortality produces real mortality. I never "come back" as a different being, no, I'm always myself, with all of my own abilities and limitations, though in each I'm always slightly older than last time, usually older than I am in life, though only by a few years. The deaths are almost always of one of a few categories though: 1) Getting mauled by an animal that usually wouldn't be considered the type for such things. This has included over the years such beings as turtles, cats, penguins, and most recently, kangaroos. However, the animals are never in their natural environ. The cats are always in cars, the turtles are usually totally sentient, the cats are sabre-toothed, as are the kangaroos but the kangaroos are always in the South American Andes, which for some reason in the dream-state are located in central Brazil. 2) Suicide. Various attempts by my own self in the dreams to kill my self. Always interesting, always scary as hell. 3) Murder by various close friends and kith, usually with knives, swords, hoedags, and/ or .44 Magnum Ruger Super Redhawk revolvers. Always the slowest death. Anyway, not going to dwell on this too much. See ya'round... Were you "reincarnated"? I have to ask you about the dream mortalities. I've always heard a rumor that if you died in your dreams, that you would die in real life. I never pushed the theory to test the validity of it and don't have any intentions to put it to the test. Anyway, when you come back for another dream life. Do you come back as a different being? In a superstitious stance. I fear that either I'd quit dreaming or never wake up from the dream. It's good to know that someone actually survived a death in a dream. Were they deaths from duals, dangerous stunts, runaway busses, metorite collisions or jealous boyfriends? Later, Jim Jackson Crawford wrote: >Well, I shouldn't think that the dream world is the real world, because >I've died there several times over. I > -- "I don't know what you mean by 'glory'," Alice said. Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. "Of course you don't -- till I tell you. I meant 'there's a nice knock-down argument for you!'" "But glory doesn't mean 'a nice knock-down argument'," Alice objected. "When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less." "The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things." "The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master -- that's all." -- Lewis Carrol, "Through the Looking Glass" To unsubscribe or change your preferences for the Creed-Discuss list, visit: http://www.winduplist.com/ls/discuss/form.asp
