Hey Jeff,

as Tara mentioned, the comment Brian made was something to the effect that Ed
Veddar wishes he could write lyrics like Scott Stapp....the reason the
comment was taken so harshly is that it was made to a Seattle radio
station....and since Seattle is PJ's hometown, it didn't sit well with the DJ
or the listeners.  You can search articles on it, and follow-up comments from
Scott Stapp (which he posted to the bb) on both Mtv and VH1 websites.

I have had the opportunity to meet all members of the band, on several
occasions, and personally....I thought they were all sweet as can be.  Scott
included....although I do realize he has a short fuse....I also understand
the emmense presure he's under.  But to me, he was nothing but nice!  He's
very friendly, open, and has a good sense of humor.  Same with Mark, very
funny guy...also Scott Phillips, who is rather shy, but has a very quick wit,
and he's extrememly fan friendly if you take the time to seek him out.  He is
shy, so he kinda hangs off to the side, but the opportunities I've had to
chat with him, he's always been easy to talk to....Flip doesn't take his
"rock-star" image very seriously!

Brian was also a real good guy....the comments he made about Pearl Jam was
just his way of showing his support to his (then) bandmates.  He thinks Scott
writes better lyrics than Eddie....he shouldn't be faulted for that...he just
should have used better judgement and a more tact.  However, the PJ comments
were only a small part of his leaving the band...there were problems with
Brian and the other members, and he was given a choice....fix them, or leave.
I know it was a very had decision on the part of the rest of the band to
have to offer that choice to Brian, and I know they always hoped he would one
day return to the band....which is why they have yet to replace him with a
permanant bassist....but since he's now in another band, sadly, I guess he's
not coming back.

That's what I've been hearing, that him leaving the band in part happened
because of something he said about Pearl Jam in a radio interview. Does
anybody know exactly what he said or have a link to a transcript of the
interview itself? Whatever it was had to be pretty bad because Mark talks
about it in his Guitar World interview. He said that he "turned bright red;
I
could have killed him." Or something like that... Brian always did seem like
he was rather hot-headed. I think I read in an interview somewhere that they
got a regular gig at a club after he said "f*** you!" to an audience member
that dissed him/them.

Also, those of you that have had the opportunity to meet members and/or have
had pictures with them, what are they like as people? Scott Stapp seems like
he tries to be a good guy, but lets his temper get the best of him pretty
often (I'm the same way, so I'm not trying to degrade him or anything). Mark
sounds pretty nice, but quiet/shy; and Scott Phillips (can't forget him can
we?) seems nice also (at least from the one solo interview that I have read
with him).
