Live To Offer 'Mummy Returns' Song As Free Download

By Teri vanHorn

Live have wrapped up the song "Forever May Not Be Long Enough," for the soundtrack to "The Mummy Returns."

Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette, Dave Matthews Band) produced the track, which the Pennsylvania rockers will begin offering as a free download via their official Web site early this month, according to Live's management office.

While the soundtrack is due in May, "Forever May Not Be Long Enough" also may appear on Live's follow-up to 1999's The Distance to Here, due in the summer.

Live co-produced the album with Eleven singer/guitarist Alain Johannes, who says the as-yet-untitled disc has "a freshness to it [and is] quite varied and focused at the same time." But, he added, it retains Live's core qualities: anthemic music and heartfelt lyrics. Live recorded the effort in Johannes' home studio, where former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell made his solo debut, Euphoria Morning.

Live, who toured with the Counting Crows last year, are joined by Adam Duritz on the song "Flow." Another track, the ballad "Fools of Love," has a "stripped-down, reggae-ish feel," said Johannes, who recently started work on Eleven's follow-up to Avantgardedog (2000).

Other songs that may turn up on the album are "Simple Creed," "Nobody Knows" and "People Like You."
