BURBANK, CA  (23 October 2000) - The Hilton Burbank Airport & Convention
Center  (aka The Burbank Hilton hotel) will be the home to UltraSound
2001.
Held the weekend of Sept 8-9 , the
second
annual UltraSound Conference and Showcase makes it's move to Burbank
from
it's inaugural location of Las Vegas.  "Las Vegas was a great idea - on
paper,"   says event organizer Dave Tedder.  "People love to go to Las
Vegas
but the main attraction is the hotels and that took away from the
showcasing
bands a little bit.  Not only that but the home of hard rock and heavy
metal
will always be Los Angeles so it only makes to sense to 'bring it on
home
again'."
UltraSound 2001 will feature two days of live bands and panels on topics
ranging from Music & The Internet to Publicity / Press, A&R and several
other
mediums.  "One focus of the event is to educate people on the industry
and
how things have changed over the years so we'll be featuring open forums
hosted by insiders from different levels of the music industry,"
explains
Tedder.  Various marketing opportunities and sponsorships will once
again be
available to bands, record labels and the like.
Bands may submit packages to UltraSound 2001 by going to:

and
mailing it, along with a complete package to:

Any metal bands interested should know that this is a hell of a good
time, so even if you don't get picked to showcase, it's worth the
trip out there just to see the bands.  This is a convention for both
bands AND music fans.
This is the second year for UltraSound, and last year it was in Las
Vegas, with a lot of cool bands that had never played the U.S.
previously!  This year, it is in Burbank, and is an even bigger
affair.  A lot of major labels didn't hear about Ultrasound in time
to get their bands in last year, and they are making up for it this
year - so much so, that they had to push Ultrasound from the planned
spring date to a September date to make time to get more submissions
and schedule all the bands in!
My friend Dave is actually the one that is behind Ultrasound and the
cool thing about it is that rather than being a bullshit convention
where nothing is accomplished, they put on Ultrasound as a party for
true music fans - a chance for true music fans to see a lot of good
music, and a chance for them to get up close and personal with those
bands.  The admission price for the weekend is unbelievably low and
SO worth it.  If you are a band, your benefit is this:  If touring is
not an option, this is an opportunity for you to showcase your music
in front of people from all over the world, as well as major and
independant label execs.  There is an opportunity for you to sell
merch at a booth throughout the weekend, and you also get a chance to
make connections with other bands obviously, so if you aren't touring
outside of Cleveland now, this might be your ticket to make that
connection.  Regardless, Dave is a hell of a guy, and this is a
festival is a very positive, good experience.
Highly recommended - check out the website for more details -
