================================================ Subject: NCR: John Mitchell From: "Misty Farmer" To: Date: Wed 28 Mar 2001 15:20:47 -0000 ================================================ Bassist - "Playing live is a great feeling - letting loose - finding a groove - moving around with the music - having the music move others," is what John said about the energy level put into a bridge performance. And without a doubt, John puts 110% in each and every performance. He is all over the stage, doing guitar licks with Terrill and Sean, bouncing all around; he is definitely a mover and shaker on-stage. You can tell he enjoys the music, and wants the people around him to enjoy it as well. But music is not John's only interest - you see he is a full-time student at UNC Charlotte studying psychology with minors in religious studies and biology. He is also quite involved in the recycling program at the apartment complex where he resides. John told me he is also quite interested in vegetarianism. John hails from St-Louis, then moved to Mooresville, North Carolina, and now calls Charlotte home. His musical interest began when he was around 15 years old and presently he plays bass guitar and guitar. "Brandon and Terrill both asked me to jam with them, then I found out they wanted to start a band, I thought it was a good idea, so I joined them," he said. "I've played in a few other bands that lasted for only a few practices - I don't even think we had any names. But I played with Bad Humour, a punk band in Mooresville for about six months." His musical interest vary from Fishbone, to Joe Henderson and the Blue Notes to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, to Jane's Addiction, Jimi Hendrix, Pearl Jam, and many, many others. Every since that very first day bridge saw the light of day, in the spring of 1997, John has been a member. John said he never set out thinking he wanted to play in a band. "I decided it's something I enjoy. I don't know exactly what I'm going to do with my life, but playing music with bridge is something I want to do right now," he said. "I didn't plan on bridge getting much bigger. I joined with no expectations but to enjoy creating and playing music," he remarked. John practices bass guitar and guitar alone everyday, and with the band about three or four times weekly. If you've ever caught a bridge performance, you may have noticed a small disco ball hanging from John's bass - well that is part of his ritual prior to the show, the other part is stretching so his calves don't ache after the show, and also taking off his shoes. "It's a great feeling to feel the music, and have it move you. Being surrounded by something like that which can't be seen, is a moving and sobering feeling," he said. His favourite bridge song to date: "The Realm" from the newly released CD "Blinking Reality." John also said his favourite bridge song varies month by month. In closing John said everyone brings something to the band. If someone has something that sounds good, they bring it to practice - and they play it. "In this way, the band has matured. And this maturation has opened up more creative sounds in the band." _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE Budweiser E-mail account at http://budweiser.com Budweiser E-Mail must be used responsibly and only is for consumers 21 years of age and older!
