================================================ Subject: NCR: Brandon Hinson From: "Misty Farmer" To: Date: Wed 28 Mar 2001 15:18:52 -0000 ================================================ Drummer - Brandon Hinson has been intrigued by music since the tender age of nine. Brandon was an adept of the saxophone - then graduated to the drums, via a short stint with the guitar. Back in the high school years, a garage band was formed - the brothers Hinson, Brandon and Terrill, were a musical team. History was being written. Growing up during the disco era, and listening to club music from the early 80's - Brandon endures a variety of music. He mostly enjoys rock - but likes everything from industrial rock to hard rap metal - World Music, techno and electronica. This makes him a music connoisseur. The only other band besides bridge that the brothers were ever a part of was 'Whispered Scream' back when they were 15 and 16 years old. "It was a good start. We put out one tape and mainly learned a lot from it. It was a maturing experience," said Brandon. ROLE MODEL When I asked him who he modeled himself after - I was expecting him to answer me some famous musician's name - was I surprised! "Honestly, I'd have to say my dad," was his answer. Brandon explains that his dad started out with nothing and did what he loved and prospered from it. "I've learned a lot from him, and apply it to my every day decisions and with the band," he said. Randy Hinson, Brandon and Terrill's father is a successful night club entrepreneur in the Charlotte area. FORM OF EXPRESSION I wanted to know what bridge meant to him, his reply was simple "bridge means everything to me," he said. He explains - "It's an escape… it's my doorway to what I want to do later in life. It's my only real form of expression. Being on stage and making music fulfills something in you that nothing can touch and there is nothing else that can make you feel that way," he said. FOR THE LOVE OF MUSIC Being a part of a band has been a dream of Brandon's since the age of 13, "Oh, yeah, there were other things I'd thought about being - but a band or being a part of the music industry always excited me the most," he said. "When I first told my parents what I wanted to do, they didn't try to steer me away from the idea, but they weren't too thrilled with it," he said. "Friends were like 'yeah, that's cool' and they weren't too enthused about it - but in the past year, they rarely miss a show." Being in a band does not only mean having fun playing music - Brandon takes care of promoting bridge, and also puts many long hours into a show before it even happens. Brandon makes sure the sound is perfect and the stage is set up right - before one of their shows, Brandon told me he had worked eight hours getting everything ready. Brandon said when bridge played the 'Speedstreet Festival' in Charlotte "It was the largest crowd we had played in front of - and everybody dug it a lot more than I thought. I was surprised at the number of people who wanted autographs and CDs. It was a warming feeling and I could do that for the rest of my life." And that is exactly what his game plan is. NEW CD "Blinking Reality" was released on Jan. 20th, 2000. The results of this labor of love is a CD rich in sound, with songs that speak of emotion and heartbreak, in a way that only the members of bridge can write, and perform. Bridge's music does not destroy one's brain after an hour of listening. Each song they perform becomes your favorite until the next one starts. Brandon's drum attacks can be heard throughout their music, and if you have the chance to catch one of their performances, you can actually see how intense and dedicated he is to his craft - I was personally electrified by his renditions. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE Budweiser E-mail account at http://budweiser.com Budweiser E-Mail must be used responsibly and only is for consumers 21 years of age and older!
