*mumbling*  Maybe because we have a reading speed higher than one word a minute, so it only takes us a few minutes to read all this... umm.. all these e-mails?

And just so I don't waste one of the 150 allowed e-mails per day with a separate post, I wanted to say a few things.  I've been talking to some of the people having problems with the new list, and here's my thoughts:
1.  The list seems to still have some bugs in it that need to be worked out, so we're all going to need to have a little patience.
2.  It also appears that the majority of the people having problems are on AOL... could just be a coincidence, or it could be some sort of problem between the list and AOL, some sort of incompatibility maybe?
3.  I say that because I've had several AOL people tell me they've followed the unsubscribe directions exactly (and I haven't seen their posts on the regular list, so they're at least not sending it to the main list), and say that each time they try, they get an error message sent back.
4.  It also appears that at least some of the new, confused people used to be lurkers on the digest mode, or signed up for it and never got it, or for some reason couldn't open the digest after they started receiving it, so they have no idea what's going on now, having never received individual list e-mails before.
5.  It also seems that, at least for the moment, there's a cap of 150 e-mails per day and 250 lines per e-mail on this list.  Hopefully this is/will be changed, because I know that we get MANY more than 150 mails per day when Creed is doing something noteworthy, and usually more than that even during slow times (like now).  V's rock news posts are generally much longer than 250 lines, especially when you include her signature lines... and some of my posts tend to ramble on and on and on and... well, those of you who know me know what I'm talking about... lol.  Point being, a lot of us post many long posts, many times a day, and the cap thing is just gonna be one (or two) big hassles.  Scott pointed out that the backlog from yesterday was around 70 e-mails, which cuts us down to only 80 posts today, assuming the cap is still on.  Using my very rusty arithmetic skills, that means that if there are the same number of posts today as yesterday (approximately 220)... and you count that 70 of those were backlogged to today... then tomorrow we'll be backlogged by 140 messages.  That would mean that after 10 posts, everything else would be sent out the following day.  Which basically means that within a week, the e-mails will be days old before we get them.  And with all the problems we've had in the past with arguments being restarted because of old e-mail, I can see many problems arising here.
I'm going to stop there, hopefully before the 250 line cap comes into effect.  Just some points to think about, and I know a few list members have voiced their concerns to the people in charge.  Keep your fingers crossed, everyone (including those who were on the old list, our new members, and those who just want to get off the list)... if we're just patient, hopefully everything will be sorted out in a few days and things will get back to (relative) normality.
