Weezer Gains Inspiration From Creed At Los Angeles Show

(3/22/01, 7 a.m. ET) -- Weezer used Creed for inspiration at its hometown show last Friday night (March 16) at the Hollywood Palladium. The group worked references to the modern-rock giants into the night's actual written setlist, which was obtained by tourdates.com contributor Tracey Robson. For example, the group's "Say It Ain't So" was titled "Say It Ain't Creedlicious," and "Undone (The Sweater Song)" was referred to as "Undone, The Creed B-side."

In fact, each of the 17 songs that Weezer played that night had a Creed reference in its title. Others included "My Name Is Creedler," "El Creedler Scorcho," "You Gave Your Creed CD To Me," and "Surf Creed America."

A copy of the complete set list can be viewed at tourdates.launch.com/tdc/localscene/1900646. Weezer's third album, its first since 1996, arrives from Universal on May 15. The yet-to-be-titled effort is produced by the Cars' main man Ric Ocasek. Ocasek also produced the group's most popular album, its 1994 self-titled debut.
