Time to head for linuxland, Joe! -----Original Message----- From: Joe Earles [mailto:jearles@berkshire.rr.com] Sent: Monday, February 11, 2002 10:29 AM To: creedlvr@lafornara.com; CREED-DISCUSS@winduplist.com Subject: Re: Re: Excel, registries and changing favorite Creed song (Weathered album) You can't take a pair of pants and make them into two equally useful articles of clothing. You can't cut a tire in half and use one on the front axle and one on the rear. You can't cannibalize one Dell computer and make two functional PCs out of it. You CAN put an XP disc into any CD-ROM drive and execute the Setup program. That's the difference. You're telling me my argument is ridiculous and yet in order to make it sound bad you need to result to a couple VERY ridiculous examples that are so far out into left field it's not even worth the keystrokes to respond to it. And if Microsoft CARES so much about its customers why do we get to pay a per incident charge for tech support when something goes wrong? I must say, however that I owe Microsoft a debt of gratitude in that regard because they forced me to learn how to fix my own PC and deal with Windows issues early on. But it still makes no sense to me that I've now spent $200 on a piece of software and an additional $20 AT LEAST to find out how to properly install the NIC card. Microsoft is a money machine. It always has been, it always will be no matter what court order comes down the pike. Gates has more money than God and he insists on this "mine! mine! mine!" philosophy AFTER he's already gotten my money. Sorry if you disagree but that to me is not indicative of a company that cares about people any further than their back pockets. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Debbi R" To: Sent: Monday, February 11, 2002 12:47 PM Subject: Re: Excel, registries and changing favorite Creed song (Weathered album) > Hey, Tommy Hilfinger's got plenty of dough.
