================================================ Subject: Would someone please tell me why From: "Debbi" To: Date: Fri 1 Feb 2002 17:25:55 -0800 ================================================ It's somehow less insulting to say ass*ole or f*ck than it is to just call someone an asshole or a fuck? I mean, I understand the origin of this masking. But to me, it's equally as strong to use the mask and exponentially more irritating. Debbi Btw, the mask started when ISPs began filtering content. AOL comes immediately to mind. In order to cuss with certain settings in some chats and other member areas, you have to mask the word. And IIRC, you could send any thing you wanted, it was automatically filtered and masked by the time the packets are sent to the receiving user(s).
