================================================ Subject: Human Clay is the true masterpiece From: "Sandy Carter" To: Date: Thu 24 Jan 2002 07:33:19 -0600 ================================================ Hi, I really think that the differences between HC and Weathered are like comparing apples and oranges to use a cliche. HC has just so much to chew on mentally, and the music is, well, it's inspiring, for lack of better words. I can listen to it over and over and always find something new about it. I also am one who thought Weathered's lyrics were lacking in depth in comparison to HC and MOP, but the music is good for the most part. While there are songs that I just don't care for, they were done well-- live. The acoustic version of "Don't Stop Dancing" made it tolerable. I didn't care for that song much (still don't), it just seemed too canned, and I don't like choirs and orchestrations. And while it's a sweet song, I'm more inclined to get more from "Never Die" (I don't know if that's the real name of the song, but it's track 7 on HC......"I won't let go of that youthful soul, despite body and mind our youth will never die...") THAT song was SO great live! Give me more of that! And it's pretty much another version of Don't Stop Dancing, much the same message to me. All in all, Weathered is a more upbeat musical experience overall. The percussion is more in your face, and SS's voice sounds good. He really shows his range more. I liked Weathered for about 2 weeks right after I first got it, then when the newness began to wear off, I started weeding out songs that didn't say much or appeal to me, and I found myself going back to MOP or HC. HC to me is like a good book, a novel that you just can't put down, and you reread the good parts. Weathered is a happy listen. BTW, just read the review of the concert in the Houston Chronicle, and they compare Creed of today to U2, Dave Matthews Band in performance terms. The writer seemed to applaud the *less is more* attitude (no jumping from the rafters, no weird hyper dancing around, you get the picture). Scott S. doesn't have to do all that, he has everyone's rapt attention. He is so cool (stating the obvious here). He could stand there and sing about dog poop, and I'd be all over it!
