Eddie --> come out on top! --> --> The Calling, Tantric, and Lifehouse --> (There might be one more, but if there is, their name eludes me --> right now). --> All of these bands have something in common: all of their lead --> singers sound --> somewhat the same, with those same baritone sounds. --> I would agree to a point that the mid baritone vocalists seem to be quite popular. I am not sure why, as this has been my singing style for years. I appreciate the fact that many of today's popular rock is well within my vocal range as opposed to a, say, Geddy Lee (hey give me a break - I'm a classic rocker). --> I don't think it's fair to be comparing these bands to each --> other, and I totally don't think it's fair to be comparing them to Creed --> (Creed is out of their league, well, except maybe Tantric :-)). --> Ahhh....another vote for Tantric. I like these guys. --> --> One person could say The Calling are ripping off Creed, Tantric --> is ripping --> of Creed, but when it comes down to these people and their --> arguments, if you --> look at things from their standpoint, then all of these bands, --> even Creed, --> are ripping off of Pearl Jam. A but I can tell the --> difference between a PJ song and a Creed song, both musically --> and vocally. --> It's not fair to judge a band when the thing being judged on is not the --> actual music. If I'm making sense here, let me know. --> And it can be said that PJ rips off old classic rock etc. I grow weary of the comparisons. I think blatant copycats are obvious. People have to understand that there are only so many ways you can take a power chord and change its depth and perception aurally. Most, (though certainly not all *read:money*) of the successful bands draw upon their musical likes and tastes and incorporate them into their own distinct sound. Doing this on a continual basis is what seperates a good band from a great one. And IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH RECORD SALES!!! For example: STP - continually berated for being an Alice In Chains/Nirvana ripoff. I think it finally took IV to get them some deserved respect. Now after putting out a very nice melodic effort in Shangri-La-DeDa they are being again attacked by the same critics for sounding too "pop". Geeze you would think some people could think deeper than this. --> here, but what does NP stand for? It stands for Now Playing on my 'puter as I type this.
